Jean-Jacques Sempé: a bit of Paris and elsewhere …

Until February 11, 2012, the city of Paris presents an exhibition by the famous French comedic designer, Jean-Jacques Sempé, entitled “Sempé, un peu de Paris et d’ailleurs”.
A cartoonist, Françoise Giroud offered Sempé his first regular position with the magazine L’Express, to which he brought a progressive look to news stories. He is also the creator of Petit Nicolas.

In Paris, Sempé moved to the left bank and began working near Saint-Germain-des-Prés, where he found inspiration at the Luxembourg gardens.
Fascinated by the capital, Sempé observed lovers, poked fun at the subway crowds, traffic, events, or the headlines of newspaper stands …
The first retrospective dedicated to Sempé, the exhibition invites visitors to view the world through his eyes, featuring more than 300 original drawings.
